FULL GRAIN LEATHER
Full grain leather is considered the highest quality leather, since it is the strongest and most durable part of the animals hide. It contains the entire grain layer, without any removal of the surface. Which means it displays the more natural characteristics of leather. As the grain surface is left intact before applying the surface coating, the leather has more fibre strength, durability and as it ages, it will develop a patina over time. Full grain leather often comes with an aniline finish which stains or dyes the leather while still allowing the natural grain to show through, this subtle finish allows the leather to continue to breathe.
Nubuck is produced by buffing the outer, more durable side of the leather. Nubuck is similar to suede, yet with a more refined appearance and created from the outer side of a hide, giving it more strength and thickness and a fine grain. To create the ultra-soft Nubuck that defines the Decoded leather, our craftsman additionally sand the outer side of the leather by hand. The result is a velvety textured leather, changing colour and structure when being worn and touched.
Waxed leather is colored with aniline dyes that are impregnated with a natural wax. The natural wax tend to darken the original aniline dye coloration and provides a beautiful shading and unique variations. A lighter color occurs when the leather is stretched and pulled. And as it ages, it will develop a patina over time. These are the unique characteristics of Waxed leather.
